ALTR Army, you never cease to amaze us. This week we’re introducing you to another OG of ours, Adam Libertini (he already wins best last name).

Right off the bat, Adam’s quick to tell you he’s a Canadian, and damn proud of it. He was raised in Kitchener, Ontario and moved to Minneapolis a few years ago for work. He originally planned to stick around for only a few years, but Minneapolis is growing on him (and we’re happy about that). He digs sipping cold beer on patios in the summer months, and cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs indoors in the winter (and getting ALTR’d, of course).

One of the first things you’ll notice about Adam is that he’s fit (he says his world-class crokinole skills have nothing to do with this, but we don’t really know what that is). He’s always tried to stay active and has tried his hand at various fitness routines over the years, including running, CrossFit and powerlifting. “I'm a big fan of everything, but I feel best when I can find a balance in my workouts."

Enter ALTR. Before joining ALTR, Adam had been spending a lot of time powerlifting. He loved it, but found powerlifting made him stronger but not fitter. He was looking for a workout that did a better job of balancing strength, endurance and mobility and was interested in trying out HIIT style workouts. We’re really freaking glad he did. “I like ALTR because each class is different and ALTR has exercises that hit every part of my body,” he says. “In ALTR classes, I always end up pushing myself harder than if I were working out on my own. The lights and music create a great atmosphere, and before you know it the class is already over."

What song gets you pumped?: My girlfriend makes fun of me because I come home from ALTR humming all the songs but I never know their names.

What’s your favorite ALTR session each week?: The 6:30 am classes are my favorite. My work schedule can bet pretty hectic, but this is the one time of day I can consistently carve out for myself. It’s a great way to start the day and gives a nice burst of energy.

What’s your favorite pre or post workout snack?: During the week I usually settle for a breakfast bar, but on weekends I like to head to Rise for a bagel and coffee once I finish up with ALTR.

What’s your guilty pleasure?: Anything with peanut butter.

What’s one goal you have in your fitness journey?: I’d love to run a sub 5:30 minute mile.

What’s your favorite ALTR workout move?: Rowing! Sometimes I can’t tell if I love it or love to hate it, but either way it leaves you completely spent by the end of 40 seconds.

What’s a fun fact about you that not many people know?: I’m a world-class crokinold player. It’s a big deal in Ontario.
